A website related to my career that I really like is iNaturalist (https://www.inaturalist.org/). This platform serves to learn about biodiversity, bringing together people of nature observers around the world. Here the community can upload photos of their observations of plants and animals, to identify them with the help of others. It also allows to support scientific research projects.

I really like it because it has helped me a lot during my studies, I have learned a lot about different species and now I can recognize plants that I didn't even know what they were called before. I also find it very cool to learn about the diversity of species in different parts of the world.

The time I visit iNaturalist is relative, because if I find a plant that interests me and I don't know what it is, I immediately look it up on the site.

I would recommend this website to anyone interested in nature, biodiversity and citizen science. It is a good website to learn more about wildlife.

My favorite food

Gnocchi is a traditional dish of Italian cuisine which consists of small portions of dough made with potato and flour. The preparation of gnocchi begins by cooking the potatoes until they are a little softer, then they are mashed and mixed with flour until a smooth and homogeneous dough is obtained. The dough is divided into small pieces that are rolled and cut into cylinders, and then cut into smaller pieces to form the individual gnocchi. These are cooked in boiling water and served with different sauces.

I love gnocchi for their soft texture and delicious flavor. They are a versatile dish that can be combined with a variety of sauces and ingredients to create different flavors. In addition, they are relatively simple to prepare and can be made at home to share with friends and family.

In terms of health, gnocchi can be part of a balanced diet. Potatoes are a source of carbohydrates and fiber, and the flour provides energy. However, it is important to consider portions and balance consumption with other nutritious foods. In addition, the choice of sauces can influence the caloric content of the final dish.

In summary, gnocchi is a delicious and versatile Italian dish that I enjoy for its flavor and texture. As with any food, it is best not to overeat them, although I honestly can't really enjoy them because they are too yummy :p

My favourite piece of technology

My favorite piece of technology is my smartphone. It's my favorite because it's versatile and gives me access to so many features and applications. I use it for various purposes, such as communicating with friends and family through calls and messages, surfing the Internet, listening to music, taking pictures, and managing the things I need to do in my day.

My smartphone positively affects my life by providing me with great convenience and efficiency in my daily tasks. I can quickly access the information I need, plan my routine, keep up to date with news and social media, and have fun. It also allows me to stay connected at all times, which is very useful both academically and socially.

I would totally recommend using a smartphone because of its various benefits. Although, it should be used in a balanced and responsible manner, setting limits so that we are not overly distracted and maintain a healthy connection to the real world.

Why did I choose my major?

 Since I was a child I was always very scattered when thinking about a future job, because I wanted to be many things which still interest me a lot today. I liked medicine, criminology and astronomy, but when I had to make a decision, the careers I most wanted to study and that I put in my preferences were music, psychology and geology, the latter was the most preferred because it was the closest career to study paleontology (my dream job so far), until I discovered Forestry Engineering where I knew I could become a paleobotanist and at the same time study nature that has always fascinated me. 

Since I had my first internship I knew I was not making a mistake in my career, I love nature, the environment and I have been able to meet very good people.

My biography

 My name is Javiera Andrade and I was born in Santiago de Chile. I did my primary and secondary studies at the Liceo Matter Purísima, since I was there from Pre-kindergarten to 4th grade. Now I am studying my higher studies as a Forestry Engineer at the University of Chile.

I currently live in Santiago with my parents, my younger sister and my cat named Tokito.

I have many hobbies, since I like to carry out various activities such as trekking, appreciating nature, listening to music, playing instruments, reading, playing basketball, doing taekwondo and I also started rhythmic gymnastics this year, because I was selected for the university . However, my favorite hobby is the circus, I love many of its disciplines, especially contortion.
